Counseling should be comfortable. From the time you walk in the door you should be surrounded by warmth and hospitality. My space is designed to be welcoming and cozy. It is my sincere hope to provide a place where it is safe to talk about hard things. Where you walk into the door feeling unconditional acceptance and leave feeling listened to and understood.
Trauma does not happen because we went through a bad thing, trauma happened because we went through a bad things without the support we needed at the time. Trauma is healed by wrapping a person in support and connection. When we have a compassionate person walk us through how the brain works, without shame, without judgment, we get to repair the injured parts and heal.
I have a passion for the art and science of therapy. My journey began as a therapist 20 years ago. Over that time I have had the pleasure of helping hundreds of individuals find their path. My job is to create a safe & comfortable place to consider your journey. Your job is to know what is best for you. My office is a space without judgment or shame. Over the years I have studied the fascinating and beautiful brain. I love helping people better understand why they experience different challenges. I love helping people find different ways to sooth their nervous system and feel the peace they so desperately deserve.
I am a mother, wife, & grandmother. I love all things with feathers, fur and fins. I love laughter through tears and counting the brilliant things this world has to offer. I love hard questions held with compassion and grace. The world is better because all kinds of people exist and I love finding the unique ways people find love and joy. I believe smart people cuss. I believe life is complicated and people are complicated. I believe the world is better when we celebrate our authenticity and unique selves. We all crave deeper, more meaningful relationships, but few have the real tools to make that happen. Despite being fundamentally wired to need relationship, we are also primitively wired to protect ourselves from the vulnerability needed to truly connect. I understand the need for genuine instruction in how to create the relationship you have been longing to receive, but afraid to claim.
Using skills to soothe the nervous system and engage our higher self we are able to help coach couples, parents, & partners in gaining real connection. Through relationship counseling we are able to more than adjudicate arguments, we are able to heal unresolved family patterns that are at the heart of continued conflict.
